I had a very nice visit with Mike last winter and took some great shots of his work in action. What does he do? Marbling, he is a master at it. It is an ancient form of painting and one of the most natural forms as well. It used to be used on documents as a security measure as it could not be duplicated. Today most likely you have seen it on a kleenix box or on a book binding.
Mike has been Marbling for 15? Plus years and has some amazing work to show for it. He has developed a unique technique to doing it on t-shirts which can be quite difficult. Upon my visit with him, he had two baths set up. One was huge in preparation to paint large pieces of fabric, and the other was much smaller. I hope you enjoy the pictures that I took of Mike and his studio. The finished piece is on a canvas a great landscape with a full moon and a river. As you will notice, I did not get so many pictures of the actual studio I was just so mesmerized watching him paint!
