V-A-C-A-T-I-O-N

I have had a BLAST this past week while on vacation with my sweetie!! We put some gas in the tank and packed our bags. Started out South with a short detour to an Antique Mall in Stoughton WI. Then down to southern IL. where we found a great store selling “Stuff” and I scored on some Origami Chairs!

What a Mess! Our next stop we organized the van.

Then we decided to head to St. Louis. On the way we saw the “World’s Largest Catsup Bottle” in Collinsville IL.

Oh, did I mention the Snow Storm?!?!!!!

By the time we made it to St. Louis, the unusual snow storm was hitting pretty hard. So we took some pictures and headed North…

So North we headed to get away from the snow. Of course we were delayed for about a half hour with a traffic jam on the interstate. Oh well, everything happens for a reason!

We arrived pretty late at night in a town famous for being the birthplace of Mark Twain….

A beautiful Barn Quilt along the way.

I know someone who would love this Iron Horse!

Ice Cream You scream we all Scream for Ice Cream???!!!

Finally we arrived in the famous town after dark. Hannibal hosts several antique stores downtown and we made sure to get up before noon to check them out! I was a little disappointed that many were closed for the season until April, but then I found a huge rag rug at a real real GREAT price and I cheered right up! This city had some good architecture, was full of history and very fun to explore.

River Boat "Mark Twain"

Wish it would've been open for business!!

So Back on the road, and up the river. All along the way there was talk of it flooding and I was just grateful to it in its’ natural state of No Disaster! We fell in love with a little town named Keokuk … it had some wonderful old buildings including this church.

The next stop along the trip was a town called Davenport. I remember the name because this is what Great Grandma used to call her couch. We found many expensive antique stores here and had a blast visiting one with many rooms and a courtyard.

Very exciting – our next visit to the home of American Pickers…. Antique Archeology… there were many t-shirts being sold, and many many people there taking pictures!  So I joined them:)

Some Inner Thoughts….

Hello! My heart goes out to you with peaceful calming energy to help heal the tension, negativity and pain that has been in the air for quiet some time now. We are experiencing some intense changes of which it will be much easier to claim your personal power and speak your inner truths. Just be sure to own those truths. Be certain and impeccable with your words. Run everything past your heart and if it rings true for you then it is your truth. Be RELENTLESS in the search for truth, and follow no one blindly.

The Purple Onion

So my Mother has been telling me for quite some time to stop at this store in Delavan that they might be interested in my Art. Finally I did, and I am so grateful to be a part of it now!  There is such a good vibe with everyone involved. You will find my Vintage Marble & Glass Tile Pendants there as well as the Abundance Bottles. They have a very nice selection of Artists and consignment clothing. Stay tuned for future classes and workshops here.  I hope you enjoy the Classy Sassy atmosphere!

Faye Blakely the Owner, and Debbie Swenson the Manager have created an awesome Artisans Consignment Boutique. There is also new and consignment clothing and accessories.  Faye has many great workshops and classes scheduled in an interesting array of subjects… more to come.

A Fun Photo For Friday

As we reach the new year, I am fondly thinking about a summer visit to Chicago with my Sissy.

Happy New Year!!! May you all have peace and happiness through out the year….. Safe, happy and healthy.

Open House today!!

The advantages of shopping at an open house…

I thought it might be nice to point some of these things out.

When you shop at an open house, you get to see the creative space and get a better perspective of how the creative process works. Of course you get to know the artist a little better when you share a glass of wine and some homemade cookies.

A big benefit is that because of the lower overhead vs a show or store that would add consignment fees, is that the artist is able to lower the prices giving you some great deals on last minute shopping!

Who knows what else? You might run into someone you met briefly before and felt like you really connected. Leading to a serendipitous moment that propels you into a lifetime of happiness. Well, I don’t know if I can promise you that, but everything else is very happening this Saturday… Hope you can make it.

Getting Lost Getting Found

At the first of the month, I took a road trip out to Columbus. I had a destination; the ColorXSalon. During the months of November and December, my paintings are on display at this Salon. What a great place.

Anyways, I got lost. I drove around in a state of enchantment. The architecture was so refreshing in this little town. My jaw dropped when I saw the bank and later I learned that you can get a tour inside any day of the week. I am very saddened by all the towns that have updated their downtown buildings and left out the important welcoming appeal of great architecture!

All the while I was driving, I was passing antique store after antique store, and then, an antique mansion.

Well, I pulled over to get directions down town at the Visitors Center… the sign in the window said they were open, but that wasn’t the case. Fortunately for me, the Carousel Antique & Upholstery store right next door was open. This led to me meeting the very talented owners who will now be joining us in the HandMade & How show with their Funked out Furniture and Renaissance clothing. I’m very excited to see what they will bring!

I now have a space in the Carousel Antiques store where my jewelry designs are available for purchase. Here I am able to also share with you my love for vintage. I have some great costume jewelry there as well as my whole collection of Orange Spice Inarco. I hope you can make the trip out to Columbus… remember to stop at the ColorX Salon,132 West James Street, Columbus, WI, and Carousel Antiques, 132 West James Street, Columbus, WI 53925 and tell them that SassMama Sent ya.
