Open House today!!

The advantages of shopping at an open house…

I thought it might be nice to point some of these things out.

When you shop at an open house, you get to see the creative space and get a better perspective of how the creative process works. Of course you get to know the artist a little better when you share a glass of wine and some homemade cookies.

A big benefit is that because of the lower overhead vs a show or store that would add consignment fees, is that the artist is able to lower the prices giving you some great deals on last minute shopping!

Who knows what else? You might run into someone you met briefly before and felt like you really connected. Leading to a serendipitous moment that propels you into a lifetime of happiness. Well, I don’t know if I can promise you that, but everything else is very happening this Saturday… Hope you can make it.

Getting Lost Getting Found

At the first of the month, I took a road trip out to Columbus. I had a destination; the ColorXSalon. During the months of November and December, my paintings are on display at this Salon. What a great place.

Anyways, I got lost. I drove around in a state of enchantment. The architecture was so refreshing in this little town. My jaw dropped when I saw the bank and later I learned that you can get a tour inside any day of the week. I am very saddened by all the towns that have updated their downtown buildings and left out the important welcoming appeal of great architecture!

All the while I was driving, I was passing antique store after antique store, and then, an antique mansion.

Well, I pulled over to get directions down town at the Visitors Center… the sign in the window said they were open, but that wasn’t the case. Fortunately for me, the Carousel Antique & Upholstery store right next door was open. This led to me meeting the very talented owners who will now be joining us in the HandMade & How show with their Funked out Furniture and Renaissance clothing. I’m very excited to see what they will bring!

I now have a space in the Carousel Antiques store where my jewelry designs are available for purchase. Here I am able to also share with you my love for vintage. I have some great costume jewelry there as well as my whole collection of Orange Spice Inarco. I hope you can make the trip out to Columbus… remember to stop at the ColorX Salon,132 West James Street, Columbus, WI, and Carousel Antiques, 132 West James Street, Columbus, WI 53925 and tell them that SassMama Sent ya.

Who would’ve Thought?

Never did I think that…

I would have to become an expert at everything. From Marketing to Photography, to Bookkeeping, to Networking, and so on and so on and so on.

I seem to be struggling with the simplest of photography! My mistake, photography is not simple just because they make the cameras so user friendly, doesn’t mean that it is fool proof. It takes practice, trial and error, and practice. I try different angels, lighting, backgrounds and such and such and such. Sadly the pictures posted here are the ones I flagged as “good ones.

I am grateful that my photographer friend came over and gave me some pointers number one being learn what your camera can do! Study the foreign language of photography and practice, practice, practice.

Here are some pictures he took with the same camera…

I guess the next step is to invest in a tripod.

Something OLD Turns Something NEW Update

PROGRESS…….

I know it took me a while to update this posting, but alas! Here it is!!

Something Old Turns Something New The family heirloom is done! Here are the pictures. I feel so honored to have been able to work with such an amazing piece. There is so much love in it. The master artisan who carved it so many years ago, to the man who purchased it for his sweetheart back home to now his daughter who can wear it with fond memories.

Thank you.

I have an idea, going with it.

Measuring to make sure it is the right length.

Plan A, lace and beading to finish the masterpiece.

The stringing and chains are done, now what for the Cameo???

Taa Daaa! A family heirloom for years to come.

Something Old, turns Something New….every object has a story

PROGRESS…….

I know it took me a while to update this posting, but alas! Here it is!!

I want to blog about this amazing cameo I have been asked to work with….. My clients’ father bought it over seas during WWII and gave it to his wife. She passed it down to her daughter(my client). It is beautiful! It longs to be worn proudly, to share its’ beauty with those who gaze upon it. Sadly, it has never been worn.

I have met with my client and shared some ideas I have, she then got more ideas and brought over some chains, pearls and crystals. We have agreed on a style that we both think will honor the beauty of the piece…. I will like you to join me in the creation process and will continue to post pictures about the process…. Hope you enjoy it!

Fairies and Wind Charms

I’ve been extremely inspired lately by the nice weather. I think the fairies have had something to do with that! Here above is a vintage cutting board with several found and new charms attached.,.  The Fairies are rescued Barbies that I could not see going to the trash; they screamed ART.
